Walmart Apologizes For ISIS Cake, Explains What Went Wrong [Video]

The Walmart ISIS Cake that kicked up a storm on the Inquisitr and social media yesterday now has an official apology.

Randy Hargrove of Walmart Stores issued a statement, reported by the Daily Caller, late Saturday night that said the following.

“Our local store made a mistake. The cake in the video should not have been made and we apologize.”

Hargrove also stood by Walmart’s decision to stop selling the Confederate flag, and further clarified why the Slidell, Louisiana, location in which this incident occurred excluded one flag while seemingly supporting another that actively kills gays, Christians, and Muslim people.

“We made the decision to stop selling Confederate flag related items promoting the flag’s image,” he said. “For that reason we did not make the cake.”

“[Netzhammer] brought in the other image of ISIS and really, what happened, was our associate didn’t recognize what that image was and what it meant or it wouldn’t have been made.”

Last week, Netzhammer posted the below video that showed the “Heritage Not Hate” Confederate Flag that he wanted on a cake from his local Walmart.

When refused, he approached another location with the Walmart ISIS cake idea, and received no pushback.

“I am highly offended, distraught, and in tears over the fact you pull American history off your shelves, but allow the offensive battle flag of terrorists, sex slavers, be-headers of Christians, burners of gays to be made in your store,” Netzhammer wrote.

He continued, “You also allow offensive Rap music which sings about cop killing, degrading women, drive by murder, drug use, selling drugs, prostitution and repeatably [sic] uses the highly offensive word ‘n***er.’… But you can’t buy a beloved children’s toy car with a Confederate flag on the roof?”

Conservatives also point out that in addition to this discrepancy in Walmart’s policies, the store also frequently sells Che Guevara merchandise, consisting of posters and shirts.

Guevara was a Cuban revolutionary who many historians believe to be a murderer and a racist against black people. This idea is generally derived from a quote that Guevara once made, confirmed via PolitiFact.

“The Negro is indolent and spends his money on frivolities, whereas the European is forward-looking, organized and intelligent … We’re going to do for blacks exactly what blacks did for the Cuban revolution. By which I mean: nothing!”
