Lena Dunham: Marriage May Be Right Around The Corner For ‘Girls’ Star

Is a Lena Dunham marriage announcement coming soon? Dunham, star of the hit HBO series Girls, has been vocal in stating that she would not contemplate marriage until it was legal for everyone to marry. While talking with Ellen DeGeneres, Dunham explained why she decided to take the stance that she did.

“The idea of having a celebration that can’t be fully shared among all the people in my life and all the people that we love just doesn’t really feel like a celebration at all.”

On June 26, 2015, the Supreme Court of the United States voted in favor of 5-4 to legalize same-sex marriage. Same-sex couples across the country rejoiced that they now are free to marry wherever they want. Many government offices across the country were flooded with same-sex couples applying for marriage licenses.

On the heels of the marriage equality announcement, Lena Dunham took to Twitter in order to inform her boyfriend, Jack Antonoff, that the clock was ticking. Apparently, Dunham is now ready to get married.

Jack Antonoff did not reply to his girlfriend’s comment. Dunham continued to tweet about the historic same-sex marriage ruling.

Lena Dunham and Jack Antonoff are not the only celebrities who took a vow to abstain from marriage until same-sex marriage was legalized. Recently on The View, Charlize Theron commented that she was not going to consider marriage until the institution of marriage was equal for all.

“I don’t want to get married because right now the institution of marriage feels very one-sided, and I want to live in a country where we all have equal rights. I have so many friends who are gay and lesbian and would so badly want to get married and I wouldn’t be able to sleep with myself.”

How do you feel about the Lena Dunham marriage vow? Do you think she did the right thing by putting off her future and happiness until everyone could be happy?
