Shania Twain Wife Swap: Shania’s Ex-Hubby Had Affair With Her BFF & Revenge Sounds Like Country Song Plot [Video]

Shania Twain survived a wife swap that sounds like the plot of a country music song. But because she’s the victim in that tune, Shania’s song is not exactly upbeat, reported the New York Post.

When it comes to discussing her life, Twain is opening up about the wife swap that involved her husband (who also was her manager) absconding with her erstwhile best buddy.

“When that happened, I thought, ‘Forget it, this is more than I can handle — I’m never going to sing again,'” Shania admitted. “I had to grieve through it.”

Twain responded through her music, including “That Don’t Impress Me Much” and “(If You’re Not in It for Love) I’m Outta Here!”

And despite that wife swap involving Robert “Mutt” Lange and Marie-Anne Thiébaud, Shania’s life gradually got better.

It helped when she found love on the rebound with someone who just happens to be Marie-Anne’s ex. In 2011, Twain married Frédéric Thiébaud.

In addition, because her son Eja is everything to the country music crooner, Shania attempts to stay on good terms with her former husband. As for the woman involved in Twain’s wife swap? No way.

“I don’t see her, ever. I don’t invite that trigger into my life… She’s not my future — she’s my past.”

Many don’t know it, but Shania isn’t her real name. Born Eilleen Regina Edwards, she took on the latest name of Twain after her mother remarried Jerry Twain. But after her record label suggested that she come up with another option, she decided to try something different.

“So I thought, ‘What flows well with Twain?’?” said the singer.

Taking inspiration from her wardrobe supervisor’s name provided the answer.

“[Shania is] very pretty, unique and it happens to mean ‘on my way.'”

As for what’s next for Twain after recovering from that wife swap, the singer is busy with her final tour, called “Rock This Country,” reported the Daily Mail.

Shania will perform at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

And the money that she makes on the tour goes to a good cause. Twain’s non-profit organization is called Shania Kids Can, designed to aid disadvantaged schoolchildren.

“I always said, as a kid, ‘If I ever make it, I have to help kids like me,'” she revealed. “This tour [lets me] give back.”

Shania isn’t the only female country music singer showing her country strength. As the Inquisitr reported, Miranda Lambert recently decided to enhance her health and figure by losing about 50 pounds.
