‘Harry Potter’ Play To Come To The London Stage In 2016
Is Harry Potter coming to the stage? You bet! Author of the series J.K. Rowling announced on Twitter on Friday that a new stage play is coming to London next year.
The play will be called Harry Potter and The Cursed Child and will feature the “untold part” of Harry Potter’s story. That said Rowling assured fans that this untold story is “not a prequel.”
Harry Potter and The Cursed Child is made for the stage, and because of that it won’t act as a book in the series. Instead, Rowling said of the play that it’s a, “result of a collaboration between writer Jack Thorne, director John Tiffany and myself.”
Although some Harry Potter fans might be upset that there’s not a book in the works, the author said that she’s “confident” that “Potterheads” will understand her reasoning.
Here’s a few tweets J.K. Rowling left about the new play.
I’m also very excited to confirm today that a new play called Harry Potter and the #CursedChild will be opening in London next year.

To answer one inevitable (and reasonable!) question – why isn’t #CursedChild a new novel? – I am confident that when audiences see the play
