Dylann Storm Roof Treated To Fast Food After Arrest

Dylann Roof was treated to fast food after his arrest in the Charleston shooting case. The Shelby Police Chief who arrested Roof reportedly treated him to Burger King for a free meal not long after he was handcuffed for confessing to killing nine people at the Emanuel AME Church.

Shelby Police Chief Jeff Ledford said that Dylann Roof complained that he was hungry after the Charleston shooting arrest last week. North Carolina police officers reportedly delivered a burger and fries to the alleged mass shooter.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Roof was caught in Shelby after the police received a tip and pulled over the Hyundai sedan the alleged Charleston shooter used when fleeing the scene of the killings at the church. After the Shelby police officers pulled the car over, Roof casually rolled down his window, handed the officers his ID, and said, “I’m Dylann Roof,” according to court documents.

“‘He was very quiet, very calm. He didn’t talk,” Shelby Police Chief Ledford said during an interview with the Charlotte Observer. “He sat down here very quietly. He was not problematic.”

Dylann Roof is a high school dropout who reportedly grew up in the suburbs of Columbia. He was charged with nine counts of murder and a weapons possession charge on Friday. North Carolina police found a.45-caliber handgun in his vehicle during the arrest.

The accused Charleston shooting suspect’s grandfather, C. Joseph Roof, is reportedly a prominent lawyer in North Carolina. Charleston County Magistrate James Gosnell Jr., who arraigned Roof, garnered backlash after referring to the alleged shooter’s family as victims. Gosnell encouraged the community to “rally around” the family of the 21-year-old murder suspects.

“We have victims — nine of them. But we also have victims on the other side. There are victims on this young man’s side of the family,” the South Carolina judge said from the bench. “Nobody would have ever thrown them into the whirlwind of events that they are being thrown into. We must find it in our heart at some point in time not only to help those that are victims but to also help his family as well.”

Judge Gosnell’s comments prompted some to call him “racist” and “insensitive.”
