Viral Video: Jenn Peckham Wakes From Surgery Believing Her Hands Have Become Pac-Man [Video]

Videos depicting the nonsensical rantings under a haze of anesthesia have made various rounds across the internet. Many are recorded during car rides home, while some are taken while the patient is still in their hospital room. Such is the case of Jenn Peckham, who had just woken up after having surgery on her leg, still groggy from the medications that were pumped into her, and unaware that reality was skewed under the impact of the drugs. As a result, Peckham believed her hands had become Pac-Man, whispering “Wakka Wakka” as he made his way through the imaginary maze to escape his ghostly followers. However, when she felt Pac-Man was cornered, she broke down in tears as she worried her little yellow hand would be eaten by the ghosts.

Unbeknownst to her, Peckham’s experience was recorded by a family member as she became distraught at the fate of her Pac-Man hand. Although Pac-Man was in her control as she moved it through the imaginary maze, the other hand that was “replaced” by a ghost seemed to be out of her control as it stared down the yellow chomping ball. According to Metro, the ghost on her right hand had cornered her left hand Pac-Man, which would surely lead to its demise.

During the episode, Peckham was able to whisper an impression of Pac-Man’s movement, by saying “Wakka Wakka” in a hushed tone, according to the Mirror. Still, the sound effects were not enough to save her beloved Pac-Man from capture. However, her mother was quick to react and redirect Pac-Man down a different path to freedom, relieving the tears of despair that streamed from Peckham’s eyes, and replacing them with tears of relief.

It is unknown why Pac-Man was the first thing to come to mind when she opened her eyes and saw her hands in front of her. Possibly it was the crab-like pose they were contorted in, or possibly a flashback of her favorite childhood game. Regardless, it is a moment in time she will surely not forget any time soon.

Looking back on the video, after sobering up and healing from her leg surgery, Peckham responded to the video that was posted on Youtube. She really did not have an explanation for the occurrence, but thought it was rather funny to have become a viral sensation alongside such iconic characters such as David After the Dentist.

“After my leg surgery 16.6.15. My hands were the Pacman characters. Nothing else to explain.”
