Salma Hayek: Exercise And Diet Secrets Involve Yoga, Avoiding Gym, And Juice Cleanses [Video]

Salma Hayek has an exercise secret that will surprise those who assume that the bombshell beauty must spend hours in the gym every day. With the exception of yoga, Salma claims that she never needs to exercise, reported MSN.

Hayek revealed that between work and her family, she’s given up on trying to fit in time for fitness. But at 48, she also revealed that she’s learned how to hold her body to activate her muscles.

”Some people have the discipline to exercise in the morning, and I didn’t develop that. I don’t have time to exercise. I am working. I’ve had some 20-hour days,” admitted Salma.

Instead, she relies on restorative yoga to keep her body in shape, combined with her knowledge of how to work her muscles without a gym. Hayek and her husband Francois-Henri Pinault have one child, Valentina, who is 7.

”I work with a woman in London who taught me how to hold my body in a way where the muscles are activated all day long. So even when you brush your teeth, you’re working the muscles,” explained Hayek.

And although it involves focusing on her muscles, Salma clarified that her unusual method of exercise doesn’t involve tension.

”She taught me to tone them without clenching them. You relax them and focus on the parts that need to be used, but never with tension. If you’re aware of your body, you’d be surprised by the effect it can have.”

In addition to her unique exercise regime, Hayek uses juice cleanses to get red-carpet ready, reported Pop Sugar.

Called the Cooler Cleanse, Salma has followed her juicing diet for more than 10 years. And she even turned it into a business by teaming up with Eric Helms to sell the juices. However, it costs about $60 per day to try the plan.

Hayek’s juice cleanses require a three to five-day commitment, with a daily calorie count of under 1,200 calories. Flavors range from traditional green juice to date-sweetened nut milk. There’s also a raw food cleanse for more than $60 daily.

Would Salma consider Botox to look young? As the Inquisitr reported, Hayek says massage, juicing, and exercise trump injectables or plastic surgery.

“I don’t really take big risks when it comes to beauty. I think a big risk is plastic surgery. I’m very conservative in my beauty routine. I don’t know if I would never get plastic surgery. I’m not planning on it right now. I don’t believe in Botox, especially when [people] do it so young. They destroy themselves.”

Instead, Salma prefers massage as well as exercise.

“Oxygenation and circulation helps immediately rejuvenate your body when you exercise. If you kill the muscle, if you paralyze it and your face is not moving, this is going to affect all the other [muscles] around it,” said Hayek.
