Although it has been a few months since their split and she has since taken up with much-younger background dancer Casper Smart (above), Jennifer Lopez and ex Marc Anthony are going to team up again soon for a Vegas event.
At the end of their marriage, the pair began working on an American Idol-esque, Latin-flavored reality show called Q’Viva, which aimed to travel throughout Latin America and find the best singers, dancers and performers among the people who auditioned for Lopez and Anthony.
Airing on Univision- the network with the largest audience of Spanish-language television viewers in the US- the show was set to culminate in a giant finale modestly dubbed by Q’Viva as “”the greatest Latin show ever.”
However, Lopez and Anthony called it quits early on in Q’Viva‘s making (awkward!), necessitating the couple to deal with the often-tumultuous first year of divorce, child custody and new beaux while attempting to launch a reality franchise together. (I wonder if they could make a reality show out of making a reality show during their divorce? Get someone on that!)
Now Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony are reuniting in concert for one night to star in the extraVegas-ganza, Q’Viva! The Chosen Live. In a phone interview, Anthony called the show a “very unique, modern way, and sexy way, to package these traditional talents,” and added he was “really, really looking forward to the live show.”
On working with the mom of his twins Max and Emme and former wife, Anthony says there is no “bad blood” between he and Lopez and it’s funny to him that people are surprised they plan on going forward with the Q’Viva par-tay:
“I know it’s shocking to people and I hear that a lot. It’s more shocking to me that it’s shocking to people… Thank God [acrimony is] not the case, obviously. Maybe if that was the case, it would’ve been different… But, that’s why I can tell you it was a wonderful experience all the way around.”
Lopez and Anthony will be performing together for the Q’Viva finale on May 26th at Mandalay Bay Events Center.
