Taylor Swift has, for the second year in a row, was awarded the coveted entertainer of the year award at the 47th annual Academy of Country Music Awards held Sunday in Las Vegas, Nevada. After being saluted for her charity work on The Kids’ Choice Awards by Michelle Obama and finding out that her cancer-stricken date, Kevin McGuire, was too sick to accompany her to the ACM Awards show, Swift has certainly had an eventful weekend.
Swift took a moment while on stage receiving her award to throw a greeting towards Kevin McGuire and his family as she had promised the high school football player she would. She was quoted as having said:
“He’s not here but I promised him I would give him a shout-out.”
Country music star Taylor Swift’s second CMA entertainer of the year award ranks the 22-year-old musician alongside the likes of Carrie Underwood, who was the only other woman to also receive the entertainer of the year award not once, but twice.
The ACM award for entertainer of the year is decided by fans who cast votes in order to choose the winner. After thanking her fans who voted for her, Swift went onto say:
“I’m so happy about this. I want to say to my fellow nominees in this category I respect you so much and I love you.”
Not quite the spectacle we all witnessed when Kanye West rudely interrupted Swift at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMA’s), but it was an eventful evening at this year’s 47th Country Music Awards show nonetheless.

Didn't watch the show, only bits and pieces, looking for Scotty Mcreery, Lionel Ritchie, and Martina McBride. Award shows have become boring, stupid rituals of who can be more self-centered. Never got to see the ones I WANTED to see.

Yea and like Ashton Kutcher had any business being there? Country Music has lost all sense of its roots. It is more pop than it is country except for good ole Toby and his Red Solo Cup!!

I saw Mcreery, Ritchie and McBride. Unfortunately, if you only want to see specific people, you still have to keep an ear open for the whole show, not just bits and pieces.

I am sorry, but I think the Entertainer of the Year award should have gone to Blake Shelton whose face is before us constantly. Taylor is cute and talented and does a LOT of good work, but I don't think that she should have been given this award. I find it hard to understand how someone who doesn't win any other award she/he is nominated for can win Entertainer of the Year – 2 years in a row, no less. I was very disappointed.

Agreed! Talor has more style and CLASS in her little finger than any other celebrity in Hollywood or Nashville has in their whole body! There has never been another performer who offers such a role model of decency, morality or just plain affability.
