Awkward Moments In Social Media

Awkward moments happen – this truth cannot be denied. However, without social media it was much easier to survive the shame. Nowadays, all the awkward moments that happen online get “shares,” “likes,” and so much undesired attention.

One doesn’t even have to say anything wrong. For example, recently the Inquisitr tracked down online activity of Liam Payne – and his lack of actions alone lead to some awkward conclusions:

“The other awkward social media headline that Liam Payne is embroiled with may actually be a big deal. It was recently noted by Hollywood Take that the music management company that helps One Direction with their tours follows One Direction — but the individual members of One Direction (like Liam Payne) do not follow Modest Management back.”

“The fact that Liam Payne is not following Modest may not be a signal for big changes in the future — but for all of them to not follow Modest? That certainly seems suspicious.”

But, well, better silent than sorry. When you are a celebrity, people watch your every move. If you are not, the best rule to keep yourself out of trouble is not to be stupid. And, considering thousands of memes and “funny” posts that spread on the web like a fire in the forest, even this single rule is hard to follow.

According to Make Use Of, some people do such things in their accounts on social media that one may wonder if they think, when they post something, at all:

“So, this guy Dominyk Antonio Alfonseca decided to rob a bank the other day by politely asking for the money. As he didn’t feel this was actually a crime, he thought that videoing the event and posting pictures on Instagram afterwards was all fine and dandy.

All in all, he posted a picture of the note he handed the teller, and videos of her reading the note and her handing over the money. And then he wondered why he got arrested. Seriously.”

So, what is the best way to avoid awkward moments on the web? One could say that keeping yourself out of social media might help, but, well, if you actually get into a weird situation offline, there always will be a “kind” person that will get it on video and post it all over the net. Perhaps, all one can do with awkward moments is to accept them and to survive them.
