Great Wolf Lodge: Girl, 3, Nearly Drowns At Great Wolf Lodge Indoor Waterpark

A near-drowning at Great Wolf Lodge has left a 3-year-old girl in stable condition.

The little girl was found unresponsive at the bottom of an activity pool at approximately 8 p.m. on Friday, May 29 at Great Wolf Lodge in Scotrun, Monroe County.

Detective Tom Lynott of the Pocono Township Police Department said the whole incident occurred in a little less than two minutes. The girl was playing in the three-foot-pool with her cousin when she wandered off without a life jacket on. As soon as they noticed the girl at the bottom of the pool, the Great Wolf Lodge lifeguards started performing CPR. She was later flown by helicopter to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, where she was listed as being in stable condition as of Saturday, May 30, according to WFMZ-TV 69.

“I’ve heard from family members she’s doing fairly well and they’re expecting a full recovery,” Lynott told the news site.

The child’s family members told Lynott that they were very impressed at how quickly the Great Wolf Lodge staff responded to the situation.

“The family felt the lifeguards acted very quickly and professionally, and they have nothing but good things to say about their actions,” Lynott said.

Township police said the doctors are planning to perform an MRI to determine the extent of her injuries, the Allentown Morning Call, reports.

The child’s name has not been released at this time for privacy reasons.
