Michelle Duggar Appalled To Discover ’19 Kids’ Crewmember Was Gay, Had Him Fired

Michelle Duggar let her son sleep in the same house as her daughters for years after he sexually molested four of them, but she couldn’t stand the thought of a gay 19 Kids and Counting crewmember being around her kids.

Because the Josh Duggar sex abuse scandal has brought so much attention to the Duggars, Gawker is collecting stories about the family from anyone who can offer some insight into their lives. The website recently published the account of someone who used to work on the set of 19 Kids and Counting, and it highlights just how much Michelle Duggar fears gay people. It’s important to note that the anecdote hasn’t been corroborated by any other sources.

According to the person who shared the account, Michelle Duggar had a gay member of the 19 Kids and Counting crew removed from the show after he told her his sexual orientation. The incident happened back in 2008 when the show was still called 17 Kids and Counting. The family was about to head to New York to appear on the Today show, and the TLC camera crew was going to record their adventures in the big city. To prepare for her first trip to NYC, Michelle asked a few TLC crewmembers about the dangers of strolling the streets. However, she wasn’t worried about murders, child abductors, or purse snatchers — her number one concern was gay people.

“Well, I hear the city is overrun by… gays… has that been causing a lot of problems?” Michelle allegedly asked.

“Why don’t you ask Jimmy?” one of the crewmembers jokingly responded.

And this is where things got ugly.

“It took her a minute to process that the joke answer might mean that there might really be one of these gays she’s always heard about nearby! In her house, even! She pulled the producer over to the corner and started yelling at him and demanding to know if what was just said was a joke, and that she wants to see Jimmy.”

Michelle Duggar then confronted Jimmy about his sexuality, but he didn’t get angry at her for asking a personal question about an aspect of his life that shouldn’t have concerned her at all.

“Michelle asked point blank ‘So… you’re… gay???'” the Gawker account continued. “The four of us are staring at this from a distance as if we’re on the edge of our seats, completely shocked that someone in 2008 would even do that, and Jimmy… suddenly strikes a pose like a model in a pinup photo, and responds ‘Well, darling, depends on who’s asking!'”

After that incident, “Jimmy” (which is not the real crewmember’s name) was “fired due to causing conflicts with the talent.”

It’s no secret that Michelle Duggar has huge issues with the LGBT community — she’s against gay marriage, and, as the Inquisitr previously reported, she once compared transgender people to child predators. Many of her critics have called her a hypocrite for trying to paint harmless LGBT men and women as dangerous people after she and her husband tried to cover up their child molester son’s abuse of his sisters. This recent Gawker story definitely doesn’t do anything to improve her image, but Josh is still doing worse — a video is making the rounds that shows him joking about incest. The clip was taken from a 17 Kids and Counting episode that aired shortly after the shows about the NYC trip.

According to Buzzfeed, the Duggars got politically involved in order to prevent same-sex marriage from becoming the law of the land. They used to support Rick Santorum as a presidential candidate, but these days they’re all about Mike Huckabee. Huckabee recently defended Josh Duggar by complaining about the “blood-thirsty media” finally making Josh pay a real price for what he did to his sisters. Because of the underage sex abuse scandal, Josh had to resign from his job at the Family Research Council, a hate group that opposes same-sex marriage.

Michelle Duggar might be a bit more worldly than she was back in 2008, but she still has a major problem with NYC. When daughter Jinger Duggar expressed an interest in moving to the big city, Michelle nixed the idea. Instead, she told Jinger that she could go stay in D.C. with Josh Duggar. Unsurprisingly, it doesn’t look like Jinger ever took her up on that offer.

Knowing what you now know about Michelle Duggar and her family, do you think that 19 Kids and Counting should be canceled?
