Raven Symoné To Become A Permanent Host Of ‘The View’

After co-hosting The View for a short period, Raven Symoné might become a permanent member of the ABC morning talk show.

According to Us Magazine, sources say Symoné is currently in the process of joining Whoopi Goldberg, Rosie Perez, and Nicole Wallace. While The View has a reputation for off-beat opinions and sometimes misinformed news segments, Raven Symoné is also notorious for controversy, leading some fans to believe she could be perfect fit as the new View host.

“They think she’s really smart but also a little kooky and so she’d be a good fit,” said a source close to The View.

Raven Symoné, 29, has also been guest hosting with comedian Michelle Collins, 33, for several weeks. Both of them are being considered as permanent additions to the morning show, according to E! Online.

Whoopi Goldberg announced the possibility of Raven Symoné serving as the new View host on Thursday’s program. Despite Goldberg’s veteran status on the show, she revealed that she and the other permanent hosts don’t have final say in whether or not Raven Symoné or Michelle Collins become new View hosts. She even asked viewers to write letters to the show requesting Symoné and Collins as regulars.

“We love saying it, but Raven and Michelle will be back tomorrow,” said Whoopi Goldberg. “We’re trying to make it permanent, so write in to everybody.”

Both potential new View hosts are apparently very involved in the program and eager to devote their full attention. Michelle Collins mouthed a sincere “thank you” to the applauding audience after Goldberg’s announcement. And, according to the inside source, Raven Symoné has been working hard to fulfill her duties as a new View host.

“Every night she studies all the current events and topics for the next day. Everyone is blown away. Nobody else prepares like she does.”

Before considering Raven Symoné, The View has dealt with a great deal of host turnover over the years, having once featured Jenny McCarthy, Sherri Shepherd, and Rosie O’Donnell, who joined and quit the show on two separate occasions.

According to the Root, The View is attempting to boost low ratings by adding a fresh, young perspective to the table. Raven Symoné, who’s most famous for her role on The Cosby Show, would certainly be the youngest View host and would also bring a new opinion to the table, having recently come out as gay.

What do you think? Should Raven Symoné be selected as the new View host?
