‘Now You See Me 3’ Is In Development Prior To The Sequel’s Release

We haven’t seen the sequel to Now You See Me yet, but Lionsgate is already banking on its success by stating that there will be a third film in the franchise.

When Now You See Me hit theaters, it was a surprise hit, raking in $117 million domestically and $234 million in the foreign market. In total, the film made $350 million worldwide. The caper thriller film revolved around four very different magicians, played by Jesse Eisenberg, Dave Franco, Woody Harrelson, and Isla Fisher, who are united by an unknown benefactor.

A year after they’re united, they’re headlining a huge act as the four horsemen. For their last show, they claim that they will rob a bank, which they pull off. Of course, more is involved in this story, and although it garnered mixed reviews, people wanted more of the four horsemen.

All actors were contracted to reprise their roles in the second film, including Mark Ruffalo. That said, Isla Fisher had to drop out of the second film due to her unexpected pregnancy. Masters of Sex actress Lizzy Caplan was brought in as a character named Lula. That said, it’s expected that Isla will return for the third film as Henley.

According to Variety, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer is looking forward to the third Now You See Me film.

“We’ve already begun early planning for ‘Now You See Me 3.'”

It’s said that Lionsgate is planning the sequel, Now You See Me 2, to release on June 10, 2016. The company believes that the sequel will top the $350 million box office return. With those numbers, it’s not a surprise that Lionsgate is already talking about a third film.

After all, they’ve already had to lose two very strong performing franchises, such as Twilight and Hunger Games, so it makes sense that they would want to start another franchise that already has a built-in fan base.

It looks like people are already talking about Now You See Me as a franchise.
