George Zimmerman’s Shooter Arrested, But Who’s Telling The Truth?

The man accused of shooting at George Zimmerman has been arrested as of Friday night, because authorities in Florida say he lied to them about details surrounding the shooting. WFTV News 9 reports that Matthew Apperson has been charged with one count each of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He is also given the interesting and very specific charge of “firing a missile into an occupied conveyance.”

CBS News reports that the Florida man turned himself into authorities willingly on Friday after a warrant was issued for his arrest. Lake Mary Police also issued a public statement regarding the details of the investigation.

“After conducting numerous interviews throughout the week, detectives determined that Mr. Apperson did intentionally fire his weapon into the vehicle occupied by George Zimmerman without provocation.”

Apperson never really denied firing into George Zimmerman’s truck, however. He reportedly claimed that he did so in self-defense because the man who killed Trayvon Martin had brandished his own firearm at him during another dispute following last year’s road rage incident between the two of them. Authorities with Lake Mary Police Department say that Apperson is not being truthful about the events that unfolded on Monday when Zimmerman was almost shot. Police officials have declared that Apperson fired into Zimmerman’s vehicle “without provocation.”

It doesn’t seem that Zimmerman is getting much sympathy, even though the man who shot at him has been charged. If anything, there appears to be an imbalanced mix of people who are angry that the guy missed and people who just wish the man wouldn’t get attention in the media anymore. As always the hashtag #GeorgeZimmerman is a display of passionate opinion on social media.

Do you think the police did a thorough enough of an investigation, or are you among the numerous people who think Zimmerman has somehow gotten away with something? Regardless of the numerous opinions that exist about George Zimmerman, the man simply can’t seem to shake the bad luck that’s plagued him since the shooting of unarmed teen Trayvon Martin.
