Fans Aren’t Feeling ‘Sparks’ For Hilary Duff’s New Music Video

Hilary Duff released her new music video for her third single, “Sparks,” on Thursday morning. The single is off her upcoming album, Breathe In. Breathe Out., which is set to release on June 16.

Duff has been disappointing fans with her new music video. That’s because “Sparks” is not a music video. It’s a glorified advertisement for Tinder. It was revealed last month that Duff was on the popular dating app. Now it seems like she’s using Tinder to promote her new music video.

The music video follows Hilary around as she goes on various Tinder dates. The singer and actress is seen bowling and go-kart racing with her alleged suitors. The music video occasionally cuts to the song and shows Hilary Duff dancing in a neon-lit room. She’s also seen rocking fuchsia and blue tinted hair in the quick dance scenes.

Fans are disappointed by Duff’s new music video because it features little music and very little dancing. Instead, fans learn that Duff loves a man who enjoys a little Sriracha.

The media and fans have been disappointed by Hilary’s new music video. Both BuzzFeed and Billboard writers believe that the entertainer was too busy promoting Tinder rather than her own music. Those who are new to the dating app are pleased to finally learn how it works.

Product placement is the norm when it comes to music videos these days, but it seems like “Sparks” overdoes it. Many fans think that it feels like a commercial for Tinder. It wouldn’t be surprising if Hilary Duff’s new music video ends up on television or on streaming sites.

Duff previously explained how the dating app influenced her “Sparks” video.

“I thought it would be really cool to capture me doing something totally normal that a ton of people do and include it in the video—it’s two parts of my life that are meshing together. And [it] seemed challenging for me—I was like, ‘Am I really going to go on a date with someone I’ve never met before or heard about?’ I wanted to know what it was like and if sparks really do happen. The theme of my song is sparks. It’s about finding that with someone and then hanging onto it.”

It’s not making fans happy though. Some of Hilary Duff’s hardcore fans have taken to social networking sites, like Twitter, to exclaim their disappointment in the music video. Some are even asking for a Tinder-less version of the video.
