Nina Dobrev Wedding Talk: Finally Opens Up About Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed

Nina Dobrev is finally speaking out about the wedding of her ex-boyfriend Ian Somerhalder and his brand new wife Nikki Reed. The actress has been at the center of gossip and headlines claiming she quit The Vampire Diaries because of all the on set drama surrounding herself, Ian, and Nikki, whom he married last month.

Perez Hilton reports that Nina Dobrev is opening up only now that she’s completed her stint on The Vampire Diaries, and some fans think it is because she and Ian Somerhalder really did have problems that Nina didn’t want to deal with anymore. However, Dobrev says that is not the case at all and that she has nothing but love for her ex-boyfriend and his new wife, even saying she’s happy to hear about their wedding.

“I’ve said this before, that we didn’t break up because anything bad happened or because there wasn’t love or friendship. I love him and the friendship is still strong and I think he’s great and I care about him. And that didn’t change. Yes, we’re professional and that’s fine. We were friends long before we dated and we still are now.”

As for Nina’s feelings on Ian and Nikki Reed, she says she only wants Somerhalder to be happy in life. Dobrev also claims that there is no drama at all between herself and the newlyweds and that it was all created in the media.

“When I heard about the wedding, I thought it was beautiful. They look happy and I am happy and so I don’t see why there should be a problem with that. The drama is in the media, it’s not with us. But of course, we’re on a teen drama show, everyone’s going to look for drama. If there’s no drama, there’s nothing to write about. I just ignore it.”

Unfortunately, Nina Dobrev is no longer on the teen drama show as she announced she was quitting The Vampire Diaries back in April, as previously reported by the Inquisitr. The news of Nina’s departure shocked fans and upset them. The show will continue on to Season 7 without the main character of Elena Gilbert.

Dobrev told The Hollywood Reporter that more than anything, she’s excited to see where life takes her now that she’s off the show.

“Anything for the first time, the unknown, the fear, those are all emotions that are so exciting, ultimately. I love that feeling, and I really want to feel that again. That’s why I’m excited about this next chapter: I have no idea what’s going to happen, and that means anything can happen. That’s what’s most exciting to me — the prospect of anything.”
