Vincent Price Jones: Angry Dad Pokes Daughter’s Boyfriend With Cattle Prod, Gets Arrested For Assault

Dads like to make idle threats about the despicable things they would like to do to boys and men who would date their daughters, but a Washington man named Vincent Price Jones may have crossed the line when he used a cattle prod on his daughter’s boyfriend, the Toronto Sun is reporting.

The 52-year-old Jones, of Bellingham, Washington, (about 90 miles north of Seattle), apparently took exception to 38-year-old Norman Gerstner dating his 25-year-old daughter. It’s unclear, as of this post, what specific beef Jones had with Gerstner that prompted him to use the cattle prod on the man.

Regardless, according to KCPQ, Jones barged into Gerstner’s home some time last month while the younger man was sleeping and shoved the cattle prod into his chest. According to police reports, he also brandished a knife and threatened to use it to cut off a specific part of the man’s anatomy.

The cattle prod assault happened on March 24, but police were unable to locate Mr. Jones until Wednesday. Gerstner reported seeing his assailant walk into a Belingham restaurant and notified police, who arrested Jones without incident. He was taken to jail, where he remains on $50,000 bond.

A cattle prod, for those readers who may not be familiar, is a pressure-activated device that delivers an intense electric shock. They’re used by ranchers to move cattle from here to there, and as this post on Cattle Today makes clear, cattle quickly learn to fear the devices.

“[My cattle prod] gets the job done. I too use it not to much, once the cattle know what it is they wont forget it and move the moment they see that thing in my hand. If they need a reminder I make a buzzing sound by holding it on to a metal fence post. Like with everything else, the more you use it the more the animal get use to it and don’t bother about it.”

In fact, some animal rights activists consider using cattle prods an act of animal cruelty.

Needless to say, using a device designed to inflict pain on a thousand-pound animal against a human is a hideous act of assault.

Vincent Price Jones, who had no criminal history prior to the cattle prod assault against his daughter’s boyfriend, faces charges of second-degree assault, first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, and felony harassment.
