Give Men Abortion Veto, Fox News Shrink Keith Ablow Says [Video]
Men should have the ability to prevent their girlfriends or wives from getting an abortion, Dr. Keith Ablow claims.
As a psychiatrist who tends to stir things up on television, Ablow made this pronouncement on Fox News Outnumbered yesterday afternoon during a discussion of the Sofia Vergara frozen embryo lawsuit.
“I’ve been outspoken on this, men should be able to veto women’s abortions if they are willing to care for the child after its born,” the shrink declared.
Garnering high ratings in its first year of existence, Outnumbered features four female co-hosts discussing the news of the day along with one male in the middle of the couch, the so-called #oneluckyguy.
Vergara’s ex-fiancee, Nick Loeb, is suing to gain access to two frozen embryos that the couple had frozen when they were still together. In a New York Times op-ed, Loeb wrote “A woman is entitled to bring a pregnancy to term even if the man objects. Shouldn’t a man who is willing to take on all parental responsibilities be similarly entitled to bring his embryos to term even if the woman objects?” The contract they signed, however, requires the consent of both parties to bring any of the embryos to term via in vitro fertilzation.
Reacting to Loeb’s legal action, Ablow offered this commentary.
“Good for him. I don’t think [Vergara] has two percent credibility in this matter. The bottom line is why would a woman’s right to decide what to do with a frozen embryo trump a man’s right every time? If he wants to bring these embryos to term, good for him. He wants to parent. If he wants to have them adopted, good for him. You know what, it’s not a coin toss. It’s whoever wants that potential being to survive, that’s who wins.”
Ablow also chided the Modern Family star for in his opinion not behaving in a modern way by insisting on all the control in this scenario.
An outspoken Obama foe, the doctor stated on another Fox program late last month that the Baltimore rioters following the death of Freddie Gray in police custody were taking their cue from the president.
In an appearance on Outnumbered late last year, he claimed tha Obama doesn’t really want cops to protect us from criminals or terrorists.
Apparently, getting into the president’s head, Ablow previously claimed that Obama was purposely allowing Ebola to spread here because he wanted America to suffer. He also created an uproar last August on Outnumbered by suggesting that First Lady Michelle Obama could stand to drop a few pounds.
Recently re-upping his contract with Fox News, Ablow is a graduate of Brown University and the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and is a board-certified psychiatrist. Aside from the merits or demerits of his controversial and possibly self-promoting statements on TV, Ablow practicing medicine in liberal Massachusetts suggests that he is either very foolhardy or gutsy in offering his analysis so publicly.
