Jill Duggar Dillard Talks Motherhood As ’19 Kids And Counting’ Special Set To Air

Jill Duggar Dillard’s baby, Israel David, was born in April and now 19 Kids and Counting fans get to see how everything went with the long labor and delivery. Jill and Derick had quite the experience bringing Israel into the world, and TLC is airing a two-hour special on it Tuesday night. What can fans expect? How are Jill, Israel, and Derick doing so far?

The show’s Facebook page shares a preview into the special called 19 Kids and Counting: Jill’s Special Delivery. The clip shows the family celebrating Derick’s birthday just ahead of Israel’s birth, where Derick’s mom gave him a note that had been written by his father. Fans know that Derick lost his dad several years ago, and the sweet gift has tears flowing all around.

Viewers will also see Michelle and Jim Bob hunt through the house to find Josie’s old crib to pass down to Jill and Derick. The littlest Duggar girls have some fun thoughts to share about Jill becoming a mom.

Of course fans are hoping that the bulk of the TLC special will focus on Derick and Jill’s actual delivery experience. Israel went overdue, and while Jill had hoped for a home birth, things didn’t go according to plan. The preview for the special does show a bit of how difficult the process became, as Jill’s water broke, the contractions started and things stretched out for an extended period of time.

About 20 hours into Jill’s labor, Michelle, Jana, and some others headed to Jill and Derick’s to support her as her labor continued. Things continued for 48 hours, and the Dillards then decided that it was time to head to the hospital rather than stay at home.

Ultimately, Jill was in labor for about 70 hours, and she eventually had to have a cesarean section with Israel. As People shares, Jill and Derick are still settling into life with their baby, though Jill admits that motherhood isn’t necessarily quite what the 19 Kids and Counting star expected.

Jill says that there are a lot of things that are different from what she anticipated, but she peppers mom Michelle with questions as they arise. Whether it’s questions about nursing or the recovery from her c-section, Jill’s mom seems to soothe her nerves as she adjust to the role of mom instead of big sister when it comes to taking care of the little ones.

Dillard is still recovering from the c-section, which certainly complicates things a bit, especially considering how big Israel was. However, she’s praised Derick frequently for his willingness to jump in and take care of everything that’s needed.

Tuesday’s special will surely have fans laughing and crying as Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard welcome baby Israel David to the family after a long and complicated journey. Tune in to 19 Kids and Counting on TLC on Tuesday, May 5 to see the two-hour special and celebrate with the Duggar family.
