Racist Obama Bumper Sticker Urges Voters Not To ‘Re-Nig’ In 2012

Putting a bumper sticker on your car is a great, and annoying way, to alert the world about your political views. Apparently, it’s also a great way to declare that you’re racist.

A photograph of a racist Obama bumper sticker has been making its way around the internet this week. The bumper sticker shows the Obama campaign logo crossed out next to the words “Don’t Re-Nig in 2012.”

The bumper sticker is a play on the word renege, which means to go back on a promise, undertaking, or contract. It’s also an incredibly hateful slogan that basically says don’t elect Obama because he’s black.

Technorati reports that the “Don’t Re-nig” slogan has been around for quite a while. It first showed up on a T-shirt back in 2010 from Zazzle. (Zazzle creates custom shirts and hats so you can’t really blame them. They also pulled the shirt once people complained about the racist t-shirts.)

Some have claimed that the “Don’t Re-nig” bumper sticker was created with Photoshop and no one would ever proudly display such a hateful sign. But Eric Pfeiffer at Yahoo found the sticker at Stumpy’s Stickers. If, for some reason, you’re interested in buying one of the stickers. They currently sell for $3.

What do you think of the “Don’t Re-Nig in 2012” bumper sticker? Are you surprised that someone is driving around with it on their car?
