Free Xbox Live Games With Gold for May, 2015

Major Nelson, brand evangelist for Xbox, has revealed the free Xbox Games with Gold titles for May, 2015. Subscribers to Xbox Live Gold will receive a total of 4 games: 2 on Xbox 360 and 2 on Xbox One. Like the PlayStation Instant Games Collection for May, which the Inquisitr covered here, there is a lack of AAA titles in the mix with perhaps with the exception of Mafia II.

Xbox One

Castle Storm: Definitive Edition is a compilation of all DLC released for the original 2D physics tower defense game. The release includes the “Outcast to Savior” and “The Warrior Queen” expansions. New features included in this release are 20 single player battles, 4 survival battles, and 10 new magic spells, with a smattering of new enhanced graphics in a 1080p 60fps presentation, complete with 4x MSAA and split screen mode.

The second free Xbox game for the Xbox One is a repeat of last month. Pool Nation FX is once again being offered for an additional month as part of the Games with Gold program. A pool simulator, the game features a high detailed physics model and includes single player, online with leagues, and trick shot challenges. While it is nice to see the game continue for another month, we can not help wondering what else could have been brought to Xbox One gamers this month.

Xbox 360

Mafia II is the first offering for free on Xbox Games With Gold. A somewhat older title from 2K (2010), the game was described by IGN AU as a deeply flawed one but with a compelling narrative that made it more than the sum of its parts. The third-person game sets the player in the shoes of Vita Scaletta, a war veteran who gets caught up with the mob while trying to pay his father’s debts when returning from the war.

The second free game for Xbox Live Gold members during the second half of May is F1 from 2013, by veteran race developers Codemasters. Based on the 2013 Formula One season, it is the fifth in the F1 series from the developer. F1 2013 features the eleven teams with twenty-two drivers that competed in the 2013 season including the nineteen circuits and Grand Prix.
