Like A Super Hero, One Baltimore Mother Is A Light Amid The Darkness [Video]

It seems Baltimore has gone the way of Ferguson recently after the death of 25-year-old Freddie Gray, who was injured while in police custody. The alleged peaceful protest broke out into violence as buildings were burned and stores were looted and destroyed. One Baltimore mother stands out as a shining beacon of light within the darkness of this outbreak of violence.

The Baltimore mother, as she has been dubbed, was apparently watching the breaking news of the riots in Baltimore when she saw her son participating in the ruckus, throwing rocks at police officers, reports CNN. Though he was wearing dark pants, a black hoodie, and ski mask, the mother had no problem picking him out of the crowd.

In a move that has gained tons of support, the mother rushed down to the scene of the Baltimore riots and did not hesitate to show her son what she thought of his behavior. Throwing herself into the crowd, the bright yellow clad mother seemed to glow with justice in the midst of a sea of darkness, as she took her son to task for his actions.

This Baltimore mother, who has inspired #MomOfTheYear, grabbed hold of her child and began hitting his head and pulling him away from the riots. Keep in mind that her son, presumably a teen although he could be older, is much taller than his mother. He tried unsuccessfully to push away and escape. She would not let go, and ended up pulling the ski mask from his face. Watch the video below as the mother herds the young man away from the Baltimore rioting.

In a related report by the Inquisitr,Baltimore Police Commissioner Anthony Batts was impressed by the actions of the Baltimore mother.

“In one scene you had a mother who grabbed a child who had a hood on his head and started smacking him on the head because she was so embarrassed. I wish there were more parents out there who took charge of their kids tonight. Take control of your kids. This is our city, let’s make a difference.”

Perhaps if more parents would fearlessly discipline their children such as this mother did, standing up for what is right, there would be less violent activities such as those going on in Baltimore right now. A line must be drawn in the sand. If we teach our children right from wrong, and consistently reinforce these principles as they are growing up, then maybe the future will hold more hope than despair.

Perhaps the Baltimore mother should teach parenting classes?
