Chris Christie Calls Veteran an Idiot During Shouting Match

chris christie insults veteran

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie got into a shouting match with a former Navy SEAL yesterday at a speech he was giving and called the man an “idiot”.  Christie was speaking about the merger of Rutgers-Camden Law School into Rowan University.  Christie has become known for his abrasive style of governing.

William Brown, the SEAL who decided to argue with Governor Christie is a current Rutgers Camden student and is opposed to the plan.

Brown asked the governor during a town hall meeting in Burlington County how his plan would effect students, especially veterans.   Christie responded by telling Brown the merger was going to happen because it would provide bigger and better opportunities. The situation escalated into a shouting match, and Brown continued to make his argument while Christie was speaking, saying that no one in South Jersey wanted this to happen.

Governor Christie had the State Police remove Brown from the auditorium saying,

“If you decide what you want to do is put on a show today, let me tell you something, I can go back and forth with you as much as you want. And let me tell you something, after you graduate from law school, you conduct yourself like that in a court room, your rear end’s gonna get thrown in jail, idiot.

You know, I tried to be patient with the guy. Every time I tried to answer, he started yelling over me again. Damn, man, I’m governor, could you just shut up for a second?”

Brown called the response by Christie and the police “inappropriate.”

Brown told the Philadelphia Enquirer,

“I think he’s a bully sometimes. I was disappointed the governor couldn’t have a debate.”

Do you think that New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is way over the top or do you think he handled the situation properly?

  1. Christie is more arrogant than Obama. Calling a Navy Seal an idiot. Who in the hell does Christie think is out there preserving his right to govern freely? Navy Seals, Marines, Soldiers, Sailors, Coast Guardsmen and Airmen. In other words, people who vote. Christie showed how arrogant he is by his comment, Damn, man, I’m governor, could you just shut up for a second?” The people of New Jersey need to respond with, "Damn, man, we put you in office. So you work for us. Can you just answer the question?"

Put the seal and Blimpo in a room for five minutes…see who comes out unscathed.

  3. If the Seal would have called Christie an idiot, he would have been sent right to jail. If Christie can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. Whenever Christie doesn't want to answer questions, he tries to make an ass out of the other person. So glad he's not running for President or vice President. We would all be idiots at debate time. Grow up! Good example for your kids to be a bully. I thought they were trying to end that in schools. They never will with adults acting like bullies.

  4. Blimpo Christie thinks he's a tough guy. FLASH: He's nothing but a coward. He would never mouth off to another man if he didn't have a dozen guards around him. I know it's true and he knows it's true.

Right Dennis, How can he talk to a Navy Seal , or any constituent, like that? He has no respect for the people of New Jersey.Shame on him for his disrepect towards a man who has put his life on the line for him.He should apologize, and not a Limbaugh apology.

I think he was right to throw the guy out. It was not a debate, it was a shouting match. There is no room for that at a TH. I have gone to many town halls with people I do not agree with and I never shout at them.
Also, just because this guy is a navy SEAL does not matter. Jesse Ventura is a Navy SEAL and I would call that guy an idiot with pleasure.

  7. He is a big bully. Why have the police remove someone who disagree with you.So what if you are the governor. Protestor disagree with the President but he has too much class to act like you.

did you hear the student shouting at christie because i sure didn't. as a matter of fact the only person i heard raise his voice in the whole entire conversation was christie. i also found it ironic that you do not hear what the student said that aggravated christie, which leads one to believe that there is missing information in the coverage. christie wasn't mad that it was a shouting match because it wasn't. christie was angry that he found himself in a debate that he wasn't prepared to deal with and the pressure from the situation got the best of him. it is inappropriate for a government official to respond in the manner that christie responded in especially when dealing with everyday citizens in their home towns at that. christie basically told the student screw how your life is, i'm doing what i want to do because i have the power to and that's that. christie runs new jersey just like tony soprano runs new jersey, with fear and an iron fist.

No I did not hear the guy shouting, they cut it out for some reason. I cannot find an original video either, but most news sources are saying it was a shouting match so I am inclined to believe them, but as you said I have no evidence of it.
Also, you have no evidence it was not a shouting match so you are doing the same thing I did because you do not like Christie. I do not think it is inappropriate, he was elected by the people and if they do not like his demeanor then they boot him out. Considering he has a high approval rating and my extended family all lives in NJ and they love him shows you something. Acting like a normal guy tends to improve your image a little bit, maybe not among the spit polished politicians, but among the normal person it does.
    Just my opinion though.
