‘Dancing With The Stars’ Spoilers: ‘Spring Break’ Week 6 A Non-Elimination Week? [Updated]

Updated: While Sharna and Noah definitely made references to Week 6 being a non-elimination week, ABC’s press release indicates differently. George Pennacchio of ABC7 tweeted the details from ABC indicating that a couple will be headed home next Monday. Some theorize that when the switch-up week was canceled, ABC decided to cancel the non-elimination week as well. Plans may have changed, or ABC may be trying to misdirect viewers with this one, but as it stands now, the network says there will be an elimination. One way or another, everybody will have to tune in and see how it all plays out on the April 20 show!

Next week on Dancing With the Stars, the theme will be “Spring Break” and it seems the celebrities of Season 20 will get a bit of a break themselves. DWTS spoilers indicate that there will be no elimination during Week 6 of the competition. However, that means that there is a double elimination surely coming in either the following week or a week coming soon. What’s the scoop so far?

The big non-elimination week spoiler came via a Kym Johnson fan account on Twitter thanks to a comment from Sharna Burgess during her live cam rehearsal with Noah Galloway. Reliable DWTS spoiler Twitter poster @DWTSGossip shared that post and followed up with another post saying that there is no elimination in this next week of the competition.

PureDWTS notes that during an interview with Men’s Health, Galloway echoed the same thing: no elimination this coming week. That means that everybody can set the nerves aside for Week 6, embrace both their individual dances and team dances, and then know that they’ll be tackling the Week 7 dance as well. Of course that means that when the double elimination does hit, there will be plenty of nerves to go around.

For those who struggled score-wise in Week 5, they can breathe a bit knowing they have an opportunity to make up some ground with these next dances without an elimination hanging over their heads. While there were some excellent performances this past week, there were some celebrities struggling as well, so knowing heading into the next dances that everybody is safe — at least for the night — may be a big relief.

The “Spring Break” week performances will include the genres of jazz, jive, salsa, Viennese waltz, tango and rumba by the looks of things over at PureDWTS. In addition to those traditional performances, there are the team dances with “Team YOLO” led by Nastia Liukin and Derek Hough along with “Team Trouble” led by Rumer Willis and Val Chmerkovskiy.

As was previously reported by the Inquisitr, “Team YOLO” consists of Willow Shields and Mark Ballas, Robert Herjavec and Kym Johnson along with Noah Galloway and Sharna Burgess in addition to Nastia and Derek. That means that “Team Trouble” has Riker Lynch and Allison Holker, Patti LaBelle and Artem Chigvintsev along with Chris Soules and Witney Carson in addition to Rumer and Val.

As Derek teased last season, he’s got a crazy record when it comes to these Dancing With the Stars team dances. Heading into Season 19 he had never lost one, and his team won in that season as well. Losing the team dance generally leads to bad news when it comes to elimination, though perhaps the curse will be broken this time around. Many suspect that Patti and Chris will be the most at risk to leave in the next couple of weeks, and some might say that the team dance scenario may well reinforce that concern.

Will Derek’s team dance streak continue? Will all of the Season 20 celebrities be healthy enough to dance? Will the lack of an elimination in Week 6 be a blessing or a curse for the weary dancers? Tune in to Dancing With the Stars on Monday, April 20 to see how it all plays out.
