PSA: Mass Effect 3 on Xbox 360 Doesn’t Support Cloud Save Imports

Bad news for those of you who decided to store their Mass Effect 2 saves in the cloud on Xbox 360: Mass Effect 3 does not support cloud saves from Mass Effect 2.

Cloud storage, which was first introduced to Xbox Live back in November, allows gamers to move their save files to a cloud storage server for easy sharing between Xbox 360s. Unfortunately, EA confirmed today that Mass Effect 3 doesn’t play nice with save files stored in the cloud.

If you moved your Mass Effect 2 save to the cloud, that doesn’t mean all hope is lost. EA says that, provided you still have the hard drive from which the save file originated, you can simply transfer it back to that hard drive and Mass Effect 3 will then be able to import it.

Here’s the full rundown of the Mass Effect 3 save file situation and possible solutions, straight from EA:

The following scenarios will result in no import functionality.

  1. Moving your save file from the hard drive disc to the cloud.
  2. Moving your save file to another X360 system via the cloud (instead of a memory card or other device).

Solution to scenario 1:

  1. Move your save file from the cloud back onto the hard drive from which it originated, i.e. the X360 you originally created the save file on.

Solution to scenario 2:

  1. Move your save file from the cloud back onto the hard drive from which it originated, i.e. the X360 you originally created the save file on.
  2. Using a memory card, USB stick, or Xbox 360 HDD transfer cable, transfer the save file to the new X360.
