Watch Sadie, The Piano Playing Dog, Take A Bow After Her Impressive Debut Song [Video]

Dogs will do anything to make us happy. Take Sadie, for instance. She’s a 6-year-old German Shepherd/Border Collie mix who is now famous on the internet for playing the piano.

When her owners adopted her from the animal shelter in 2009, they likely had no idea that the dog hid some impressive musical talents. From her home in Edmonton, Alberta, she demonstrated these talents.

Sadie’s owner films her hopping onto a piano bench and using her teeth to flick on the electric piano. She sits – her posture perfect, of course, as all piano players’ must be – and plunks her paws on the keys as her owner lovingly encourages her to play some music.

And play she does. Now let’s be honest – the song Sadie chose isn’t really a song at all. Let’s not get carried away and call her a piano-playing virtuoso.

But the song is certainly good enough for a dog, who must tickle the ivories without fingers or that very useful thumb. Sadie’s tune is decidedly… creative, let’s say: some randomly struck notes that clash without rhythm or order.

She does use both paws though. She gets credit for that coordination.

Despite the fact that her audience may not be able to follow her song, she evidently knows exactly where it’s going. Because when she makes a mistake, she bashfully hides her snout.

“It’s okay, try again,” her owner says behind the camera.

And the show goes on. After playing her tune, Sadie wraps it up with a bow, right from the bench.

Her owner told the Daily Mail that the German Shepherd “loves learning new tricks and recently learned to play the piano.”

And we say those are some pretty good musical chops for a dog.
