‘Dance Moms’ Lawsuit: Kelly Hyland’s Criminal Case Resolved Pending Counseling Completion

Dance Moms fans were stunned to watch the physical confrontation between Abby Lee Miller and Kelly Hyland that aired during Season 4 of the show. Kelly ended up facing criminal charges, and the Hylands filed two lawsuits against the show. It’s all been playing out for some time now, but the criminal side of things just reached a conclusion. How did it end?

The Daily News shares that the charges against Kelly Hyland were dismissed pending her completing two days of counseling. She also needs to stay away from Abby Lee Miller for the next six months. As Dance Moms fans know, that probably won’t be much of a challenge as Miller and the Hylands seem to want to stay as far away from one another as possible.

Kelly didn’t comment to the media as she exited the courtroom, noting that there are still other legal matters in play. As has previously been reported by the Inquisitr, the Hylands have filed two different lawsuits against Miller and the show and things are still playing out. Hyland has taken some hits on those lawsuits, but a resolution is still pending.

Hyland’s lawyer Steven Goldstein thinks the charges should have been dismissed long ago as he says, “If this were anyone else, this kind of case would have been resolved at the first or second appearance.”

The incident happened in November 2013 and aired on Lifetime in early 2014. As Entertainment Tonight shares, Goldstein indicated that he believes the outcome ultimately was a good one and Kelly is happy that it is over. Next up for the family is a June 5 court date to follow up on her mandated therapy sessions, though Kelly herself may not have to be in court for it.

Did the court make the right decision? Dance Moms fans do miss seeing Brooke and Paige Hyland on the show, and fan favorite Chloe Lukasiak left after Season 4 as well. However, by the looks of the social media pages of the girls and their moms, they’re all doing quite well these days. Chloe and Paige are still quite close, and they even had a mini-reunion with Nia not too long ago.

The current dancers are definitely having some success branching out into singing and other endeavors and fans can’t wait to see what comes next. Abby Lee Miller’s current team is featured in new episodes of Dance Moms airing every Tuesday night on Lifetime.
