Sanaa Lathan, Anthony Mackie Prepare to Host Image Awards
The 43rd NAACP Image Awards will be hosted by Sanaa Lathan and Anthony Mackie at the Shrine Auditorium.
CBS reports that LL Cool J, Jordin Sparks, Terrence Howard, Paula Patton and Samuel L. Jackson will also appear at the Image awards this weekend. Lenny Kravitz, Jill Scott, and Ne-Yo are all scheduled to perform.
A few of the Image Awards have already been announced. The NAACP President’s Award, which has been previously won by Muhammad Ali, Bill Clinton, Soledad O’Brien, and Van Jones for distinguished public service, will be given to the founding members of the Black Stuntmen’s Association.
The Vanguard Award will be presented to George Lucas. And the NAACP Chairman’s Award will be given to Cathy Hughes, the founger of Radio One/TV One.
Sanaa Lathan, who has had parts in “A Raisin in the Sun,” “Contagion,” and plays Donna Tubbs on “Family Guy” and “The Cleveland Show,” has spent the last few days rehearsing for the NAACP Image Awards.
Lathan tweeted earlier:
“Just left Naacp Image Awards rehearsal. Tune in tomorrow night fri, 8pm on NBC.”
Lathan will join Anthony Mackie, who recently appeared in “Man on the Ledge” and will be playing William Johnson in the highly anticipated “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,” as host of the Image Awards.
