Mom Pole Dances With Child: Woman Dances With 2-Year-Old Daughter Strapped To Her Back

A mom pole dances with a child strapped on her back, and it’s fueling some outrage. In a video rapidly going viral, Ashley Wright is performing some dance moves on a pole, while her daughter is on her back. The YouTube video is making many wonder why a mother would do this, especially for safety reasons and exposing the girl to something so risque, CBS 12 News reports.

Ashley writes in her caption on YouTube why, as a mom, she pole dances with her daughter on her back.

“When I dance, it is not simply because I enjoy it. I dance because it is a part of being human; a part of who I am. It is a projection of my freedom. This is who I am. And this is why I dance. And most certainly why I dance with my daughter.”

Redbook magazine reports that Ashley’s video was temporarily removed from Facebook, but was posted again a few hours later.

The YouTube video was posted on March 14, and has over 400,000 views. Many of the commenters feel passionate about their approval or disapproval of what this mother is doing. A good number are impressed with Ashley’s strength and grace, as she works her moves on the dance pole.

Among some of the 103 comments posted on YouTube, a few are added here.

“The child is 2 years old so we are not talking about a 2 month old with limited neck muscles. When did we become a country where absolutely strangers know more about the needs and protections of a child than the actual mother? we just now assume that all mothers neglect their children and do things wrong simply because its different than how we do things?”

A viewer, who’s definitely opposed to the mom pole dancing with her daughter, also had something to say.

“Yes because slinging my child around on a pole is a great safe way to enjoy the day. I couldn’t care less about the fact that it’s pole dancing. It’s the fact that you are doing it with your child on your back. If you slip you could crush her. But since you decided to do this i’m almost certain you weren’t thinking about that but instead thinking about how to get 15 seconds of fame on the internet. Parent of the year goes to….”

One is taken aback by Ashley Wright’s strength in her routine.

“You are so incredibly strong! I’m definitely blogging about this!”

The little girl looks securely attached to her mother, but many worry if the mother were to slip, it could be bad news for her daughter. A mom who pole dances with her child isn’t a regular occurrence, so it’s going to get mixed reactions.
