New ‘Helldivers’ DLC Adds More Weapons, Skills, and Drones

Plenty of players have aided in bringing democracy to the surrounding planets while protecting Super Earth within Helldivers. Over nine million Helldivers have died in the line of duty with over two million of those due to friendly fire. Maybe it’s time for a few reinforcements to aid players in the twin-stick shooter. In fact, the game’s developer, Arrowhead Game Studios, announced on their Twitter account that three new DLC packs are available for download right now.

These new DLCs are the Commando Pack, the Defender Pack, and the Support Pack. Each contains a new weapon, a new stratagem, and a new uniform with a helmet, armor, and cape. These three new reinforcement DLC packs and their contents were detailed on the Playstation Blog by the co-founder of Arrowhead Game Studios.

The Commando Pack contains the commando uniform, a silenced submachine gun, and the “Commando” stratagem missile launches comparable to the EXO-44 in the base game. Those that value damage in Helldivers might enjoy this pack, according to its official description.

“Helldiver Commandos are the best of the best, specialists at being a one man army capable of leaving a wake of death and destruction. Though they are seen as one man armies, the Commandos value teamwork greatly due to their equipment.”

The Defender Pack includes the defender uniform, a semi-automatic rifle that shoots grenades, and a backpack stratagem called “Guard Dog” that summons a drone armed with a submachine gun. Players that like to go out alone within Helldivers may benefit from this pack.

“Helldiver Defenders are the unmovable objects of humanity, capable of holding their ground in any situation. They have a bulkier look and a helmet reminiscent of the knights of Old Earth and used to double as riot police before humanity unified properly.”

Finally, the Support Pack has a support uniform, a laser carbine that overheats rather than using ammunition, and the “Angel” backpack drone which heals and repairs allies near the helldiver. Players that like to aid their allies by keeping them on their feet in Helldivers could use a pack like this.

“Support Helldivers are much loved by their squad mates and bring both firepower and medical aid to any squad they join. Wearing the classic grey cape with a black cross they project an aura of capable concern for fellow humans.”

Each pack is for sale now for $2.99 in the Playstation Store. Players interested in all three can pick up a bundle for $5.99. The Ranger Pack, which includes the ranger uniform, a marksman rifle, and the “Humblebee” stratagem, is still obtainable for those that purchase Helldivers before April 28, 2015.

As reported by the Inquisitr, Playstation 4 players are getting a free multiplayer weekend this Friday. PS4 players can enjoy Helldivers‘ galactic war during this time and make their contributions to democracy count.
