Mitt Romney Wins Florida Primary

Mitt Romney has won the Florida primary according to the Associated Press. Just last week it seemed as if Romney and rival Newt Gingrich were poised to enter the State neck and neck. Alas, it would not come to be. The number shave projected Mitt Romney with over 48% of the vote to Gingrich’s 32%.

The voting population all seemed to be going with Romney with the only demographic leaning toward Former Speaker Gingrich being Evangelical Christians. Romney leads among men, women, the elderly and Hispanics.

Exit polls showed that the main things voters were looking for in a candidate was ability to win in November and those voters went overwhelmingly for Romney. Among those looking to vote for a “true conservative” the numbers tilted towards Gingrich.

This contest was really important for Romney giving both momentum going into February and 50 delegates to bring with him to the convention. Gingrich has vowed that he has no intention of quitting and will ride the campaign all the way to the convention.

The campaign has started taking a really ugly turn as of late with Romney and Gingrich attaching each other almost hourly for the hearts and souls of the voters. Most recently on Tuesday Romney supporters telling voters that it was wrong to vote for Gingrich as he left the House of Representatives in disgrace.

Gingrich’s campaign spent the day making robocalls telling elderly Jewish voters that when Romney was governor of Massachusetts he vetoed a bill that provided kosher food to holocaust survivors.
