Yoga Guru Accused: Bikram Choudhury Accused Of Sexual Assault And Rape… Again

A yoga guru has been accused of sexual assault and rape… again. According to CNN, Bikram Choudhury has been accused of manipulating women and having his way with them sexually. Six women have come forward to file civil lawsuits against Choudhury, all claiming to have been violated by a man they trusted.

“The one common thread to all their complaints is the betrayal of trust. It’s human nature. People are always looking for spiritual leaders. When you have traditional churches failing and people are looking for spiritual guidance, it is not surprising that people go to other arenas. He told them he is on the same level as Buddha and Jesus Christ,” said attorney Mary Shea, who is representing all of the women in the case.

The yoga guru accused of sexual assault denies any and all claims made against him. His attorneys believe that the claims made against their client are “lurid.” They feel as though these women were “recruited” by Mary Shea, and that they are all trying to game the system for “financial gain.” Attorneys have also said that since every woman involved has a near identical story, it proves these claims were fabricated.

According to KRON 4, Choudhury isn’t facing any criminal charges at this time. His attorneys say that all six of the lawsuits have not been presented to them yet.

The yoga guru was previously accused of sexual assault back in 2013. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, the 67-year-old yoga instructor allegedly made unwanted sexual advances toward one of his students, stemming back to 2005. Sarah Baughn says that she was manipulated by Choudhury and that he routinely embarrassed her in front of the class. She alleged that he would whisper inappropriate comments in her ear, pin her against the wall, kiss her neck, and gyrate against her. It is unknown if anyone else in the class spoke up on Baughn’s behalf.

In 2010, a woman named Pandhora Williams filed a lawsuit against Choudhury for similar reasons.

Bikram Choudhury is a very prominent figure in the yoga community. He created the popular Bikram Yoga, which refers to a 90-minute class in which participants complete 26 postures, including two breathing exercises, in a very hot room (temperatures are usually over 104 degrees Fahrenheit).

Many believe that the accused yoga guru will settle these cases quietly. Do you think that these women are out for money or do you think Choudhury was capable of committing these acts?
