‘DWTS’ Viewers Express Dismay At Derek Hough’s Return, Wonder Why Tony Dovolani Gets Older Partners While Derek Gets Young Ones
Not everyone is happy that Derek Hough will be competing on Season 20 of Dancing with the Stars. Early Tuesday morning, the celebrity cast for the upcoming season was announced, as well as Derek’s surprise return.
Derek originally said that he was sitting Season 20 out because he was performing in New York Spring Spectacular with the Radio City Rockettes. He told Good Morning America that he just decided that instead of missing Season 20, he’ll push himself to do double duty.
“This all happened literally two days ago. I had a little heartbreak not being able to a part of the 10th anniversary, the 20th season. It’s such a huge milestone for ‘Dancing With the Stars.’ It’s my family, so I wanted to be a part of it…. I’m so glad we made it happen. Let’s make it the best season ever.”
For Season 20, Derek has been paired with Olympic gymnast Nastia Liukin. Some people believe that the system is rigged in favor of Derek.
There were many comments left on Good Morning America‘s article about Season 20 stating that Derek seems to always get the younger celeb with more chances of winning while the other dancers, in particular Tony Dovolani, gets stuck with the older celeb who likely won’t last long. Tony has been partnered with actress Suzanne Somers.
“Again, Derek Hough gets a young, fit athlete. Why not pair him with Suzanne Summers and give Tony a chance with a younger person. Really unfair pairings. Ridiculous.”
“So, to get Golden Boy back for the 20th season, they lured him back with the gymnast who has a great shot at winning because she is already athletic and coachable. I am tired of the Hough love, and was looking forward to a season without him.”
“Unfreakinbelievable. I was so looking forward to this season because of the anniversary and especially because Derek Hough would be sitting out. But now he all of a sudden just ‘happens’ to be able to do the show, AND gets paired with the Olympic gymnast? And Tony gets paired with Suzanne Somers…How very predictable. Gee, I wonder who’ll win… AGAIN.”
“Why does Tony always get stuck with the oldest ones? He doesn’t have much of a chance to ever win because he never gets a younger more flexible woman.”
“Just like Derek Hough to horn in and try to keep another pro from winning the trophy. He is doing the New York show and DWTS? Sounds like he wants his cake and eat it too. What a hog! I totally lost respect for him.”
Will Derek Hough win the trophy ball or will Tony Dovolani actually beat him to it? Or perhaps the winner will be Val Chmerkovskiy? As previously reported by the Inquisitr, prior to the celeb cast announcement, Val promised viewers that they’ll see a whole new him on the upcoming season.
