Jane Fonda Admits She Still Smokes Weed ‘Every Now And Then’

Jane Fonda admits she likes to partake in a little pot every once in a while, but the 77-year-old Academy Award winner says she just cannot watch a movie while stoned.

In a candid interview with DuJour magazine, Fonda, 77, has no problem admitting she smokes marijuana every now and then. She says she just can’t be high when she watches a movie as smoking skews her judgment.

“I’ll smoke pot every now and then. I cannot see a movie on pot. The number of movies I’ve seen thinking, This is probably the best I have ever seen, and then I’ll see it again sober and think, ‘What was I thinking?'”

In her interview, Fonda talks about more than just smoking pot. The actress says being fulfilled as a person is about more than just looking good.

“People always say, Oh my god, how do you stay looking so blah blah blah. I’ve had plastic surgery. I’ve talked about that. That doesn’t matter. What matters is realizing you can always get better. That you have to keep taking leaps of faith. It gets harder as you get older. You have to stay brave and keep trying to go beyond your comfort zone and see what you need to get to become who you’re supposed to be.”

Fonda also admits it is hard to stay strong and confident in her abilities as an actress and as a person. “It started maybe six or seven months ago. I have to be very intentional about keeping myself grounded and centered. I can fly off and become scattered and lose confidence.”

When asked if she will stump for Hillary Clinton if the former Secretary of State decides to make a presidential run in 2016, Fonda says no.

“Not because I don’t care for her and admire her and respect her, but I don’t stump for anybody anymore. But you know, I hope she wins. More than that, I hope if she wins that it will make a difference.”

Jane Fonda, who is featured on the cover of DuJour magazine’s Spring 2015 issue, stars alongside Lily Tomlin in Netflix’s Gracie and Frankie. In the new sitcom, Fonda and Tomlin play two women whose husbands come out as gay and leave their wives for each other. The new sitcom debuts May 8.
