Sam Smith had a very good time at the 57th Grammy Awards on Sunday in Los Angeles. Throughout the evening, the British crooner routinely updated his Twitter and Instagram accounts to show just how much fun he was having.
It seems that one person that Smith particularly loved hanging out with was Taylor Swift. His caption for the photo, “What is my life,” makes it pretty clear that Sam, just a short time ago, couldn’t imagine that he would be hugged by the pop princess.
After being hugged by Taylor, Sam was kissed by Rihanna.
Smith, who had six nominations, won a total of four Grammy awards, for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best New Artist, and Best Pop Vocal Album. Thankfully, he didn’t have to give up an award to Beyonce.
Both Sam Smith and Beyonce were nominated for Album of the Year. In an interview with Rolling Stone in January, Sam said that Beyonce deserved to win that award.
“She deserves it way more than I do. I’d be embarrassed if I got it over her. If I got it, I’d give it to her.”
Another person who believes that Beyonce should’ve won for Album of the Year, which ended up going to Beck, for Morning Phase, is Kanye West. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Kanye rushed the stage when Beck was accepting his award. Unlike what he did to Taylor Swift six years prior, Kanye only smiled before going back to his seat. Yet he later admitted that he absolutely believes that the award should’ve gone to Beyonce.
Winning four awards was apparently good enough for Sam. He declared the night “the best night of [his] entire life.”
Unfortunately, the day after the Grammys wasn’t so pleasant for Sam Smith because he enjoyed a little too much alcohol. Monday afternoon, he admitted that he was “on another level of hungover right now.” However, that didn’t stop him from meeting Annie Lennox, whom he described as a very inspiring and beautiful human being.
I just met Annie Lennox in my hungover state. What a beautiful beautiful human being. Very inspired x
