Even Spiderman would think this is cool [VIDEO]

Right out of the annuals of the superhero bag of tricks comes this beauty by a company in England called QinetiQ. It appears that they have developed a strong plastic netting with carbon fibre spikes called X-Net. This netting can be laid on the ground in front of a moving car or van and when activated deploys the spikes which then puncture to vehicle tires causing it to come to a full stop within 50 metres.

While the X-Net is already in use in Iraq by US military the Guardian Online is reporting that the nets are being used in England by two police forces, Gloucestershire and Kent, but there are rumours that other English police forces have added it to their arsenal. The idea is that as the spikes are remotely deployed they get stuck in the tires and at the same the netting gets wrapped around the tires making it a better system than the typical stinger speed bars being used.

The only problem is that they are only good for one use as they have to be cut away from the vehicle once they have done the job.
