Dakota Fanning Too Young For Cosmo Cover? 17-Year-Old Star Appears Between Naughty Words on Magazine

Dakota Fanning, 17, appears on the cover of this month’s issue of Cosmopolitan. Who cares? You ask. Well, apparently some people are causing a fuss because the underage actress is appearing on a cover that talks about sex, vaginas, and words so naughty that they can’t even be mentioned here.

Seriously, that’s one of the teases on the title. “Too Naught to Say Here! But You Have to Try This Sex Trick!”

The cover also includes teasing titles like “His Best Sex Ever” and “Um, Vaginia? Are You OK Down There?” Even Dakata Fanning’s teaser is a little provocative. “Dakota Fanning: The Side of Her You’ve Never Seen.”

Media expert Rachelle Friberg told FOX411’s Pop Tarts column:

Cosmopolitan is going overboard by putting an underage girl on its cover surrounded by such article titles. It is one thing to educate young women about sex and their bodies, but putting a young, underage girl on the cover of a magazine that had long been known to push the limits is sending the wrong message.”

Do you think Dakota Fanning is too young to appear on the cover of Cosmo?

According to US Magazine, the current college freshman will turn 18 next month. Cosmo said that Dakota may be young, but she is also mature.

A rep for Cosmo said:

“We’re thrilled to feature Dakota Fanning on the February cover of Cosmopolitan magazine and she looks stunning. Dakota, who turns 18 this month, is a mature, fearless young woman and we are proud to honor her as our Fun Fearless Female of the year. We applaud her unprecedented accomplishments which will continue in 2012 with her four upcoming movie roles.”

This isn’t the first sexually provocative spread that the young actress has done either. Fanning had a perfume ad banned earlier this year in France.
