‘Destiny’: Xur’s Location And Exotic Goods For Weekend Of January 16

Another Friday has arrived, which means Xûr, Agent of the Nine, has appeared once again in Destiny‘s Tower. PlayStation and Xbox owners have a new collection of Exotic goods… Oh my Last Word! He’s selling Ice Breaker, everyone. I repeat, Xûr is selling the Ice Breaker. Get to the Tower now.

Xûr can be found next to the Crucible Quartermaster in the Tower this weekend. Simply head straight towards the Vanguard hall after spawning in the tower and look against the wall on the left just before you run into the Quartermaster. Here’s where you can find him on the Tower map.

Xûr and his items will only be available through the morning of Sunday, January 18. As soon as the clock strikes 5 a.m. ET / 2 a.m. PT, he will be gone.

As you can tell by the opening paragraph to this article, this is one of the better weeks of Exotic items that Xûr has sold. The coveted Ice Breaker sniper rifle is a must have for PVE players, and he’s also selling must-have Exotic helms for Warlocks and Hunters. The Titan helmet is not so bad either.

For those wondering what to get, here are a few helpful hints.

The Glasshouse is the other Defender specialty Titan Helmet. If you play as a Titan who likes to drop the Ward of Dawn bubble shield and give the Weapons of Light or Blessing of Light perks to your teammates in Raids or other activities, you should absolutely buy this. The “Bathed in Light” perk on the helmet makes Weapons of Light or Blessing of Light last an extra five seconds. This is extremely helpful for a fireteam in PVE boss fights as it will allow either dishing out or absorbing damage even longer. The Helm of Saint-14 is more of a companion to it as both fit different uses for the Ward of Dawn.

Achlyophage Symbiote is a must for Gunslinger Hunters. It gives an extra shot to the Golden Gun with the “Last Man Standing” perk, which translates to four shots instead of three. That’s always useful in both PVP and PVE. Fastball will increase grenade throw distance, and Ashes to Asset will help replenish Super Energy with each grenade kill.

The Obsidian Mind helmet for Warlocks is a must have for Warlocks. The combination of the “Inverse Shadow” (more super energy from killing minions) and “Insatiable” (Nova Bomb kills reduce Nova Bomb killdown) perks will make your Warlock a Nova Bomb chucking machine. Pair this helmet up with the Soul Rip class talent and the Bad Juju’s “String of Curses” perk for even more damage.

The Ice Breaker Sniper Rifle is a must have when playing PVE for the simple fact that you never have to worry about running out of ammo. The weapon regenerates a shot every 4 seconds, and the Mulligan perk will return a missed shot to the magazine about 5 percent of the time. The “Ice Breaker” perk also causes kills to explode and do additional damage to nearby enemies. You can also let the ammo build up to six rounds with this weapon and then switch over to another weapon when you are in a bind. This is an invaluable weapon while raiding, and was only recently surpassed by Black hammer against bosses thanks to its White Nail perk. However, that can only be picked up by defeating Crota.
