Naya Rivera Showering: Actress Says Frequent Showering Is A ‘White People Thing,’ Social Media Goes Nuts

Naya Rivera believes showering is for white people, apparently. According to Us Weekly, the Glee actress made the comment while co-hosting The View on Monday, and many people couldn’t even believe what they were hearing — especially the other women on The View. People in the live audience also seemed quite taken aback by Rivera’s comments about what ethnic group showers more, and said comments haven’t just gone away.

“I have to say I have a theory about showering, [which] is that I think that white people shower a lot more than ethnics. I feel like showering more than once a day or every day is such a white people thing,” Rivera said. Once she realized her comments didn’t take too well, she tried to defend herself.

“[My mom is half-black, half-Puerto Rican, and she] showers every day, so I can say this. But I can say that I am now married to a white man, and he showers a lot. Like, a lot — two, three times a day. I’m like, ‘What are you doing?'”

Naya Rivera’s view on showering has since lit up the internet, most people furious at her opinion, which she has since said was a “joke.”

Naya Rivera said showering can actually be bad for your skin, and continued to dig herself into a hole. According to the Huffington Post, Rivera backed up her comments with information from a dermatological study. That’s when she revealed (accidentally or otherwise) that she only showers once every couple of days.

“A study says, dermatologist say you are only supposed to shower once or twice every three days, so I’m right on the mark.”

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, there are many benefits to not showering frequently. You can read about them here.
