    It is similar to the phrase “sleep with the fishes”. So, he's sleeping with the fishes but in a different context of course. Still, I can't tell if the joke was done on purpose or not!

    Maybe it is a play on words. If you get too drunk while boating you may end up sleeping with the fishes.
