Bridemaids Star Chris O’Dowd Gets Engaged
Wedding bells are ringing for Bridesmaids actor Chris O’Dowd and his longtime love, British TV host Dawn Porter.
The Daily Mail reports that the happy couple, who have been dating for nearly three years, got engaged while on vacation over the holidays.
According to the site, O’Dowd, 32, got down on one knee popped the question at Havelet Bay, on the island of Guernsey where his now bride-to-be grew up, after spending Christmas at the Porter’s family home.
He presented her with a large emerald ring (seen in the photo below) and Dawn said “yes.”
Following the special moment, the couple each took to Twitter to announce the good news.
O’Dowd tweeted Thursday, “I’m so bored of all this happiness and sex. I’m getting married. #engaged,” while Porter tweeted, “I guess he liked it, coz he put a ring on it #engaged.”
Porter, who earlier this year teamed up with ChannelFlip to release a six-part video series titled Dawn Porter’s Bad Girl Guides, will feature in the new series of Skins.
O’Dowd is best known (by folks in the US) for his role as Officer Nathan Rhodes, the love interest of Kristen Wiig’s character, in the 2011 box office hit Bridemaids.
Chris’ next U.S. film, set for release in 2012, is the comedy “Frankie Go Boom,” also starring “Sons of Anarchy’s” Ron Perlman and “Whitney’s” Whitney Cummings.
He’s also reportedly writing a new TV comedy called Big Men about a group of men attending a weight loss clinic.
