Sophia Grace Goes Solo: ‘Ellen’ Star Releases Single Sans Cousin, Sidekick Rosie [Video]

Sophia Grace has gone solo. The 11-year-old who gained fame by appearing on Ellen several times has her own music single, leaving her cousin and sidekick, Rosie, out. The song entitled “Best Friends” shows Sophia Grace hanging out with her friends, but one friend is noticeably missing. According to Entertainment Tonight, Sophia Grace is super excited about the song, and even though she is young, she is a fan of the lyrics, which she says “all girls can relate to.”

“I’m so excited to release this song as I think all girls can relate to the lyrics. It’s a great song to listen to with your friends at a party and it’s real catchy for everyone to sing along, I had so much fun recording this song in the studio,” she said.

Many are surprised to see Sophia Grace go solo, just because she is so close to her cousin, and the two almost always presented themselves as a group, even if Rosie was more like a hype girl (per Nicki Minaj). Rosie was rather shy, and really just accompanied Sophia Grace on stage to help with stage fright (as if Sophia Grace had any at all).

It’s unclear why the girls parted ways. According to Crushable, there could have been multiple reasons for Sophia Grace’s decision to go at this alone.

“Maybe this really was Rosie’s choice. But for now, until she speaks up, all I can do is assume the worst. The worst being that Sophia Grace ‘forgot’ to call her on the day of the shoot. Which I guess is possible when you have approximately fourteen hundred thousand best friends.”

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Sophia Grace is supposed to be getting her own video series. Although she will undoubtedly be the star (and will be raking in something like $75,000 per film), Rosie also managed to find her way on to that contract, and will also make a profit. That was announced in the summer, however, and things could have easily changed since then.

Fans of the girls hope that nothing bad happened between them, or that fame isn’t the driving force behind their recent split. Rosie is only 8-years-old, so it’s possible that she was just too young to participate in the music video with her older cousin. Regardless, this sounds like a business decision, and not something that was caused by a rift between the girls.
