‘Dead’ Deer Gives Hunter The Shock Of His Life
An unidentified hunter in America got the shock of his life after he felled a deer, mistakenly thinking that the animal was dead when he approached it as it lay near his tree stand.
Video of the incident, which was posted to Liveleak, shows the unidentified man leaving his stand after shooting the deer, according to the Daily Mail. The hunter proceeds through the woods toward the deer, which lays on the ground as blood stains the forest floor nearby.
“Got it. It’s a buck too. I don’t know how big it was but it was running,” he observes to the camera.
As he approaches the deer, the hunter realizes that the wounded animal is still breathing, as the Mirror reports. He cautiously moves closer to the deer, and as he circles the animal, its eyes remain firmly shut.

While the hunter moves around the deer, he is unsure whether it is still alive or not. He slowly approaches the animal from the font, and nudges its foreleg with his boot, prompting a sudden and intense reaction as the deer’s eyes spring open.
“Holy s***!” the hunter exclaims.
“Its eyes are open!”

The hunter screams when the deer’s eyes open wider, and the animal suddenly bounds to its feet. The camera captures the deer as it leaps three feet into the air, before dashing off into the woods.
Posted to both Liveleak and Reddit, the video was filmed in November of 2013, and has since been viewed over 1.5 million times.
Earlier this month, a New Jersey woman was astonished when a deer bounded into her home. As the Inquisitr previously reported, the animal ran through the house after breaking through the front door, before the woman was able to lock it in her master bathroom. Though the home suffered significant damage, police were able to corral the wayward animal, safely escorting the deer outside and releasing it into the wild.
Commenters were quick to point out that the hunter should have known the animal was still alive, since the deer would have had its eyes open if it was dead. Others asserted that the hunter should have left the deer alone, letting it bleed out. Some viewers admitted that the video made them jump, while others noted that they hoped the hunter put the deer out of its misery.
