Dr. Luke Sues Mark Geragos Over Lady Gaga Rape Allegations

Songwriter and music producer Dr. Luke is suing celebrity lawyer Mark Geragos for indirectly accusing him of raping Lady Gaga. Both Lady Gaga and Dr. Luke have vehemently denied the claim, leaving some to wonder why he made it in the first place.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Lady Gaga shocked her fans when she confessed on the Howard Stern Show that she was raped at age 19 by a music producer, leaving her traumatized for years afterwards. She didn’t reveal who the culprit was, leaving lawyer Mark Geragos the opportunity to make some claims of his own.

After the Lady Gaga interview, Geragos tweeted “Guess who the rapists was?”

When someone guessed Lukasz Gottwald, the writer behind hit songs like Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” also known as Dr. Luke, the lawyer answered with “#bingo” in a tweet he later deleted.

Rolling Stone revealed some excerpts from the lawsuit summons.

“Through the publication of these ‘tweets,’ [Geragos] unambiguously and crassly asserted that [Dr. Luke] was the ‘rapist’ who sexually assaulted Lady Gaga.”

The same court summons claims that Geragos also defamed Luke on TMZ when he claimed, “I said it, because it’s true.”

The summons go on to explain that the claims are “demonstrably false and defamatory,” and that Lady Gaga didn’t even know the songwriter nine years ago. Furthermore, Lady Gaga was never in a location alone with him, and has only met him briefly on two occasions.

Lady Gaga reaffirmed the summons, saying through a spokesman, “this ridiculous, manufactured link between Lady Gaga and the Kesha/Dr. Luke lawsuit is utterly incomprehensible. This simply isn’t true and how dare someone take advantage of such a sensitive matter.”

Those statements haven’t stopped Geragos, who, according to Reuters, “refused to retract his statements — let alone apologize.”

Mark Geragos is representing singer/songwriter Ke$ha in a lawsuit against Dr. Luke, claiming that he “sexually, physically, verbally and emotionally abused” her. According to Reuters, the lawsuit alleges that Dr. Luke drugged and raped her, leading to years of depression and eating disorders.

Dr. Luke says that Ke$ha invented the date rape story to get out of her exclusive record contract with him. According to transcripts from the Daily News, Ke$ha once testified under oath that the music producer never drugged and raped her in a different lawsuit in 2011.

Now Ke$ha and her lawyer claim she was simply too afraid of the music producer to speak honestly at the time. It may be that Mark Geragos believes that Lady Gaga is in the same situation now, or he could simply be using the opportunity to raise the stakes in the Ke$ha suit.
