Appeasement? Obama Tells Reporters to ‘Ask Osama Bin Laden’ About his Foreign Policy [Video]

Posted: December 9, 2011

president obama

Republicans have been accusing President Obama of having a foreign policy of “appeasement,” but Obama says that it isn’t true. And if you won’t take the president at his word, he told reporters that they are free to ask Osama Bin Laden about his foreign policies.

After making a statement to the press, a reporter asked the president:

“Republican candidates have taken aim at your foreign policy, especially your approach in the Middle East and Israel and accused you of appeasement. I would like to get your reaction to that.”

To which the president responded:

“Ask Osama Bin Laden. Or the 22 out of 30 top Al-Qaeda leaders whether I engage in appeasement… or whoever’s left out there. Ask them about that.”

Here’s the video of Obama’s “appeasement” response.

According to the LA Times, Rick Santorum, Michele Bachman, Newt Gingrich, and Mitt Romney have all accused President Obama of appeasement.

Rick Santorum said:

“The president, for every thug and hooligan, for every radical Islamist, has had nothing but appeasement.

Rep. Michele Bachmann said:

“The Obama administration has confused engagement with appeasement,”

Do you think President Obama is conceding too much to foreign powers? Does the fact that Osama Bin Laden has been killed erase any criticism of appeasement?

What did you think of the president’s response?

Santorum and Bachmenn must of picked "appeasement" out of their "Word of the Day Book for Idiot Republicans."

The killing of bin Laden had nothing to do with the President and everything to do with The CIA and the military. When he got the intel that said they knew where he was, what was he going to say,"no leave him be" as Bill Clinton did on at least 2 occasions.

I wish he'd quit taking credit for that. Many times the military had bin Laden in their sights and were given orders to let him be. Why, to this day, I do not know. I even read a report that by the time Obama made up his mind on the issue, someone else had already given the order to kill, because Obama was taking too long to decide. I guess he figured Osama would just sit around and wait. :)

What do I think of his response? I think as always that he sounds like a jerk. I'd like to ask him about that lost drone in Iran. I'd like to ask him about the SEAL team who got killed shortly after bin Laden was killed. I'd like to ask him why we have troops in Iraq, Afghanistan, Africa, and maybe soon in Australia when we cannot even control our southern border. Yeah, he's SO tough!

He had no option but to go ahead, and not because he is soooo strong on foreing policies, but because he needed to save face with the american people and he new it would look good in his political "resume" for 2012.

  6. you hit the nail on the head karen. I would really like to see him and newt in a debate. i think obama would get his ass chewed up and spit out.

Apparently these warmongers want to be appeased by continuing the wars because the rich contractors need the money. If you remember Bush went into Afghanistan because our intel told us that is where Bin Laden was hiding. The same intel that tells us our drones are legitimate uses of national security. Now we find out Bin Laden was hiding in Pakistan. One of our allies who have the atomic bomb. But do we invade Pakistan, nope, we continue to kill people in Afghanistan. Notwithstanding intel, warmongers kill first then ask questions later, Anything less is called appeasement.

Thanks Luv. I too would like to see that debate.

  9. What do the helicopter crash and the lost drone have to do with excessive appeasement? If anything those give him more support. You completely missed the point, no offense.

  10. Predictable; if he hadnt killed bin laden, you would say he didnt do his job. Since he did do his job, your only option is to try to put negative spin on it
