Snow on Mars? More likely than you think

snow-on-mars

NASA scientists have reported that snow is falling in the atmosphere above Mars.

Snow was first spotted on the red planet last year, although the current observation is far more extensive,.

The Marsian snow does not reach the surface of the planet, and vaporizes in the atmosphere.

Until recently, Mars was believed to be waterless. The Guardian has more.

  1. It's worth mentioning that there are different types of “snow” (as opposed to the water-based snow we know), one of which I believe is methane-based, which would make sense given:

    a) the Martian polar caps contain large amounts of methane
    b) methane was just discovered to be produced in mysterious abundance on the planet
