Tiger Woods Vomits And Moves On, Plans ‘Pretty Full Schedule’ For 2015

Tiger Woods vomiting on the golf course is certainly not the way the pro-golfer imagined he’d make a comeback after almost four months on the sidelines, but he is planning a very busy new year to make up for it.

CNN reports that during the third round at the Hero World Challenge at the Isleworth Golf and Country Club in Windermere, Florida on Saturday, Tiger was seen “doubled over” and “heaving into a towel at regular intervals.”

Woods told reporters that he had been “throwing up for hours” and was also battling a fever and persistent cough, but made it through the round despite being sick.

“I’ve been throwing up for hours… I wasn’t doing too good at the beginning but I thought I could hang in there. The fever just broke. As the round went on I was feeling better.”

His illness may have cost Tiger a win on Saturday, but he did better than expected for someone who spent quite a bit of time throwing up into a towel on the course.

PGA Tour states that Jordan Spieth won the Hero World Challenge, beating not only tournament host Tiger Woods, but “six major champions and 16 of the top 30 golfers in the world.” Woods was gracious about his loss, tweeting out his congratulations to Spieth, along with a message about making a comeback to the game, albeit a feverish one.

Although he didn’t win and played while he was sick, ESPN reports that Woods, “carded his best score of the event so far” with a three-under-par 69 — not too bad for the 14-time major winner who scored 77 and 70 in his previous rounds.

“It wasn’t easy and I fought hard… That’s about all I had… I wasn’t doing too good at the beginning, but I thought I would be all right. It finally broke on the front nine.”

While Woods may have been hampered by the vomiting during Saturday’s game, he didn’t blame his illness for his poor performance in the opening rounds.

“I didn’t have nausea and vomiting before. I just didn’t have the explosiveness. I was pretty slow.”

ESPN states that the Hero World Challenge was Tiger Woods’ ninth tournament of 2014. It has been four months since he competed on the golf course, after spending two months away from the game to rehab his back and missing the cut at the PGA Championship four months ago. This weekend’s tournament was important one even though he didn’t win — it raised funds for the Tiger Woods Foundation.

Despite the fact that Tiger Woods had a rather unsettling weekend on the course, he did have some happy new to share. He gave a shout out on Twitter to his girlfriend, Lindsey Vonn for her win in the World Cup downhill in Alberta, Canada on Friday.

Now that 2014 is almost over, what’s ahead for 2015? Woods didn’t say exactly what his plans are, but it’s clear that he’ll be busy, telling ESPN, “It’s a pretty full schedule, I’ll leave it at that.”

Hopefully Tiger will avoid throwing up in a towel on the course and make a winning comeback in the new year.
