City Ugly Christmas Tree: 50-Foot Spruce Deemed Too Ugly By City Residents

A city’s ugly Christmas tree has residents in the area feeling less cheery. According to People Magazine, the 50-foot spruce erected in Reading, Pennsylvania, has residents feeling like their holiday spirit is totally ruined. Many who attended a recent tree lighting were discouraged to see the tree, which appeared to be thin, missing branches, and just not the right kind of Christmas tree for the people in Reading.

The city has heard the cries of its people, and a new tree lighting — with a new tree has been planned.

“Now a group led by the city council president is raising money to buy and decorate a more impressive replacement,” reports People Magazine.

The city wants the ugly Christmas tree taken down, and a new one put up in its place. On Monday, city officials started removing lights from the hopeless tree.

The city didn’t want an ugly Christmas tree sticking around for the next five weeks, and officials hope that the new tree will be up and lit by Thanksgiving weekend. The “pathetic and ugly” tree will be removed soon, but it’s unknown what will become of it. Surely most people in the town would prefer to see it used as firewood than decoration of any kind. According to Fox News, the “ugly tree” was a sort of last-minute decision for the town.

“The city had planned to get its tree from a farm in Schuylkill County, but when they went to pick it up, the farmer wouldn’t let the crew drive their trucks onto what was wet ground. That’s when they found the last-minute replacement at a Reading city park,” reports Fox News.

Desperate times call for desperate measures apparently.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Christmas lights and decorations make people happy. People who celebrate the holiday tend to really love decorating, and seeing holiday lights just makes people happier in general.

“Business Insider tells us that Americans are happily and joyfully spending in excess of $6 billion on decorations to deck the halls with Christmas lights and trinkets to set a festive mood for the holidays.”

It’s no wonder the residents in Reading were so unhappy with their Christmas display. Some people wait all year for this.
