‘Fat People Should Not Wear Bikinis,’ Says Anonymous Note To Woman — Awesome Responses Go Viral

A nasty, anonymous note complaining about “fat people” who wear bikinis and left on an Australian woman’s front door has gone viral — and so have the encouraging and supportive responses from others who are telling the woman to wear whatever she wants. Especially in her own back yard.

Here’s what happened. A woman, who preferred not to be named publicly, living in the coastal city of Bundaberg, Queensland, arrived home recently to find, she says, a handwritten note stuck her door, apparently from a nasty neighbor who has spied her in her own yard, watering the lawn while wearing a bikini.

The temperature in the Bundaberg area is regularly in the high 80s during the later months of the year, which is summertime in Australia.

The woman understandably described herself as “shocked, horrified and angry,” not only with the insults directed at her in the unsigned note, but by the fact that a neighbor would not even have the decency to approach her personally with his or her concerns.

But of course, people are rarely as cruel in person as they are in anonymous notes, like this one (pictured above).

“I don’t appreciate fat people wearing bikinis/short shorts when watering. Please cover up or I will report you,” the note read. “You disgust me. I didn’t move here for this. Also, cover up when walking your cat.”

The note went on to gratuitously blast the woman for walking her cat at all — which she says is her way of getting the kitty some much needed exercise.

But it was the attack on her appearance that first upset the woman.

“When I first received it I was really uncomfortable,” she told a local newspaper. “But now, I’m like stuff it, why should I be afraid to run around in my bikinis when it’s hot.”

Media outlets quickly picked up on the “fat people shouldn’t wear bikinis” story, posting the note online to see how readers reacted. The responses were overwhelmingly supportive of the woman.

“Good on her… people should be able to wear what they want without ridicule,” said one man.

“I can’t wear a bikini without at least pants for the sheer fact there are nasty judgmental people that bicker when they think you can’t see or hear them,” said another. “And I’m only 21, I shouldn’t have to feel like that.”

A sampling of other replies included:

• “Who they gunna report it too??? The fashion police??? Your backyard you can do and wear what u like.”

• “That’s when I’d get all of the ‘fat’ people I know to come over in their bikinis and short shorts and walk their cats up and down the street.”

• “Keep it up and wear a thong. They have no business looking in her yard, seemingly monitoring the lady’s activities. Hope the creep moves. In fact, here’s an idea: get sone more gorgeous ladies and lovely big gents for a REGULAR bikini party/ bikini book club/ learn to Samba club. Make certain i!s when most of the neighbours are home and invite them. GO LARGE!”

Perhaps based on the support received by the woman victimized by the “fat people in bikinis” note will make the next nasty neighbor think twice before leaving anonymous insults on a neighbor’s door.
